Rotary Club Summer Fete
On 31st August the Winter Night Shelter team had a stall at a Charity Summer Fete organised by The Rotary Club of Bromley at Bromley Parish Church. The intention was to raise awareness of the project and attract volunteers. A secondary intent was to raise money. House shaped biscuits were sold, neatly packaged with ribbons and a label attached with this website's address. A beautiful patchwork quilt was also raffled. The Mayor and Mayoress of Bromley visited the stall and the latter purchased £5 of raffle tickets after being told that £5 would cover the cost for one night's shelter and food for one guest. They also visited our associated charity Bromley Parish Church’s Starter Pack Scheme, which provides essential items to former homeless people when they are relocated into permanent accommodation. This charity uses unwanted used items such as linens and cookware donated by kind residents of Bromley. The event was judged a success after the distribution of a number of informative leaflets and sales of biscuits. £103.31 was raised at the event and a further £45.50 was raised the next day through left over items being sold at Bromley Parish Church.
