Round-up of the 2012/13 season.
The 2012/13 season was one of the most relentlessly cold that we have known. While there was less snow than in previous years, once the icy temperatures set in after Christmas, it felt like winter was here to stay. Indeed, as we closed in March, the temperatures were still frequently below zero and we were glad to see most of our guests housed, in one way or another.
The season in statistics:
The 2012/13 season was one of the most relentlessly cold that we have known. The season in statistics:
- 31 people spent at least one night in the shelter over the course of the winter.
- Stays ranged from one night to the full three months.
- 872 evening meals and breakfasts were served to our guests.
- Over the course of the winter, an average of 9 of our 12 beds were slept in each night.
- Over 130 people volunteered to help with cooking, sleeping over, doing the laundry and many other tasks.
- Due to the kindness of local organisations an uncounted quantity of fabulous cake was consumed.
